About the African Artisans……………

The African art and crafts that we display are produced by hardworking Kenyan and other African craftsmen and artists, who have been designing beautiful and unique African art and crafts e.g. abstract soapstone, wooden African tribal masks, African and animal walking canes, and Maasai and wildlife handicraft carvings, for years; the talent and knowledge of which is passed on from one family generation to the next. Not only do these African art and crafts serve as beautiful home décor but they also relay much about our African culture, heritage, and history.

Most Kenyan and other African artists and craftsmen work through an artisans union, who promote and price their African art and crafts in the market. Most of the times these African art and crafts face challenges at various stages in delivery due to competition, middlemen, quotas, and other overhead costs causing market forces to significantly increase the price, which in turn works against the intended purposes.

Our commitment to make a difference, how we did it and continue doing it ……………

Our significant achievements are:

  • First, and most importantly, we give back a 100% of the profits from sales where our African artist or hand-craftsman has directly participated in the creation or designing of a custom art or craft. AfricanMecca also absorbs all miscellaneous expenses arising from the sale of the African art or craft. This gives us personal satisfaction that we are making a difference by placing the credit where it belongs.

  • Second, we have and continue to strive to provide excellent customer care by putting the interests of customers and artisans before ours, which is clearly displayed in the customer comments that we have received over the years.

  • Third, discounts allowed by our African artisan from design of custom African art and crafts are directly passed on to you, our customer; our aim is to make a win-win situation for you, our customer, and our artisan.

  • Fourth, we provide a picture of the artisan (in action), who produced your custom African art or craft, so that you may make a personal connection to him or her.

  • Finally, yet importantly, we use a percentage of profits from African art purchased from the carvers union to create a fund for education, healthcare, building shelters, and food supply for needy, elderly, orphans and the destitute.

What sets us apart from others and why you should buy from us………......

Unlike most other organizations, we strive to promote African artisans who design African art and crafts that we all grow to love. Authentic and affordable African art is not an oxymoron, and that is why our customers love the African art and crafts that we offer, at the prices that we offer them. All our African art and crafts are durable and of high quality because anything else would be unfair to you, and the people who make this trade possible.
